    Dear sifus,

Need help! Found these spots on my kohaku and budo goromo. What are they? Do I need to treat them? If so, how? Thanks.

The spots on the kohaku are blackish. Somehow looks like a very faint sumi.

The spots on the budo goromo are whitish.

    Bro pandai,
On your kohaku I'm not too sure what they are....looks like it is losing flesh/scale at that area...on the goromo...did you try to remove the 2 patches slowly with your nail...looks like fungus but can't be certain....on the kohaku i would use povidone iodine....and pp on the goromo....sifus please chip in.

    Bro Farik,

Thanks for the advice. On the kohaku, I suspect so too. I don't intend to carry out any treatment for it for now. For the goromo, I did try to remove it but it won't come out. It doesn't feel rough or anything. The same (but of much bigger patches) infected my chagoi and showa a few months back. I only used "Nika - Fungus Away" and it seemed to work. I just did the same with the goromo just now. And only a few minutes ago - just for good measure and to be doubly sure - a dose of the super Kenkona Koi treatment had been initiated. Hope all will be okay soon.

they should be fine in that case....you must be feeding kaw!kaw! from my experience when there is left overs from food then fungus is then main disease that attacks....

Bro Pandai, just to enquire...it seems u have anaesthised the koi in order to have a close up view or are your koi's so well behaved that they lay still for u? Can you share how u do this? Tq bro

    Bro Ssmann,

Nope. No anesthesia required. Just a good camera and a lot of patience - squatting down and following the koi (they refuse to lay still) around the measuring tub to get a good shot :-D

Maybe it's a good camera huh? :-D FYI, I used my DSLR Canon EOS 550D with my Canon EF 17-40mm f/4.0 L USM Lens. I picked time around noon so that the sun on top of my head is shaded properly by my porch roof hence not so much background glare. I find that 45 deg angle works best. That photo was taken at f/4, 1/80s, ISO200. Those pictures are not doctored or photoshop at all. I also got some good photography tips from sifu Daniel last weekend... ^:)^

    Bro pandai,
A round of Methylene Blue won't hurt......1 to 2 grams per ton, and monitor for 4 to 5 days. Lets not take this likely as you have a GO contender in your pond........I will do this if I am in your shoes........

    Thanks bro Shukri,

Actually I have put some topical fungus medication on it already. And then immediately started a dose of Kenkona. After 3 days, 10% water change last night. Just now I have just started the second dose of Kenkona, just to be sure. I did not bowl the koi again but from observation today looks like the spots are no longer visible at least. See how it goes then.

By the way; where can I get Methylene Blue?

    Bro Shukri,

I was reading the other thread on treatment using MG and MB and suddenly thought of this one. So, my previous question was; where do I buy the MG or MB?

You can get it from King Aquaculture in Subang Jaya or Gosankekoi or Atarikoi or any of the koi dealers........

    Bro Harry,

No. The two small spots on the budo goromo are still there. But they don't seem to get any worse either and so far I don't see the same on any other fish. Should I treat or just let it be?

Bro Shukri, tak dapat ride, dapat pegang-pegang pun jadi lah... Haha! :-D

That is if the HM didn't get to them first! She's banning me from riding...! :-((

Let's hope the ban does not extend to cleaning the pond as well, otherwise I'm gonna have to start thinking on how to install the Multicyclone and Bead Filtration System... Hmmm I wonder who can teach me that? :-?

    Hi all,

I posted previously with regards to the white spots on my budo goromo. Now 2 months after, the spots are still there (see pic below). I have so far tried topical anti-fungus medication and later a few doses of kenkona but they are still there and in fact seems bigger. As for the koi, it's behaving normally and eating well and have grown a further 4 cm since last measure. No other koi in my pond have got this so far.

    www.koianswers.com/discussion/download/9633/2a-30092012 budo goromo spots zoom.jpg

Today I tried again to get rid of it. After Transmore it, I scrap them with my finger nail and they seem to come off this time. Then I applied some topical antibiotic as suggested by bro @harry_luhur and @MrKoi. Hope it works. [-O<

Any tips from sifus out there are most appreciated.

    Bro Pandai,

I scrape using scalpel, and a bit deep, and sprayed with tetravet aerosol (can buy at Yamakoshi Mura) and jabbed antibiotic. Tetravet is better compare to iodine, let it dry in the air for few second, it can last even when koi put back to pond. On scale area, there will be a bit off color on beni area, but it recover after sometimes.

I use the caustic pencil for this...it burns them cauterises them, and disinfects them at the same time...it somehow looks like carp pox to me on the Budo ...or if U SCRAP THEM...use the pencil to seal the wound...
I use my caustic pencil on ulcers too and had very good results so far.
