Baensch Aquarium Atlas
If I were told that I could only have one aquarium book this would be the one. It covers just about all you need to know about keeping a great aquarium, there's pages on almost all of the commonly kept species of fish and plants. Excellent information on diseases, water quality, decorations, filtration, pH and hardness, compatability and fantastic pictures thoughout. You can't lose with this book. I highly reccommend it.

It should be mentioned the Baensch Aquarium Atlas is not a single book, there are several volumes, some of which have not been translated yet from German to English. Another issue that is a must with the Atlas is the Photo Index 1-5 which separates all the fish into families and has small photos of each species covered in books 1-5. Below each photo it lists the scientific name and common name if given as well as the atlas volume and page number to refer to for more indepth species information. It also lists quick reference specs like PH, water hardness, native waters, size, temp, etc. Baensch also has some specific books like the South American Dwarf cichlid that could not be more indepth. I have yet to find another book more indepth or with better information and coverage than the Baensch series. I just can't wait for the others to be translated into English so I can read on...
