I write a monthly web site review for my Aquarium Society's newsletter. (That's how I got involved with Petfish.net! ) Anyway, here's one you should check out!
" WARNING: This Site contains pictures of playful, extremely colorful fish with very strong personality, which may be addictive." Thus begins the message that will greet you when you visit http://www.malawicichlidhomepage.com/. This site is dedicated to an amazing group of fish and an equally amazing group of fish enthusiasts. Beginners can learn a lot from this site, but its outstanding articles and photographs will keep diehard Cichlid folks busy for hours!
MCH has the usual web site features that include articles, links, book reviews, a fish index, and photo gallery. Those portions in themselves would make for a top notched site. What sets this web page apart from other sites, however, are separate sections featuring Cichlid "experts" (you MUST check out Patricia Spinelli's section. She has the most amazing freshwater tank designs I've ever seen!), a fascinating section dedicated to the Mediterranean Sea, a "Professionals" page which lists high quality Cichlid-related shops and breeders (most are international), and a Hobbyists' Gallery page. This gallery only includes entries that have met a very high level of scrutiny by the site administrators. Each tank is critiqued and rated - not for the faint at heart! Finally, a refreshing "Side Effects" section includes non-finned pets of site contributors.
Malawi Cichlid Homepage has received numerous awards, and it is easy to see why. It is one of the most attractive and interesting sites I've seen yet - a perfect way to spend your next snowed-in afternoon! Check it out!
