Keta-Peat Nuggets

Contains 'ketapang' (whatever THAT is). It's essentially a peat-based product that replicates blackwater conditions. I just tried it in my 225 Amazon tank and, while I'm not thrilled with the way it tints the water brown, the effect on the fish is remarkable -it's as if they were 'plugged-in' -their colors are deeper and more vibrant, and my Bolivian rams (which I just placed in there a week ago) are spawning already. Anyone else use this product?

No, but I've heard of ketapang extract and it's supposed to be great for fish. I use blackwater extract which is basically the same thing. They all come from Peat.

Ketapang is a kind of leaf that is used in Asia as a supplement to get fish to breed.

Mmmmmmm, interesting. Does it release hormones into the water, or just make the water conditions more conducive to breeding activity?

This is NOT a paid endorsement, but I can't get over the effect this stuff has had on my 225 Amazon tank: since I began using it the Bolivian rams spawned, Emperor and rummy nose teras spawned, my angels spawned -it's amazing. Plus I swear my plants look better: more growth, lush and green. I am also using it in my E. zonatum tank -the white clouds I put in as dithers spawned; I can't tell if the zonatum did or not: the tank is too thickly planted and there are too many non-visible areas where they might have spawned, but the males are velevety black with irredescent blue markings, and the females' bellies are bulging with salmon-colored eggs.
