Scientific Name: Echinodorus bleheri
Range: South America
Adult Size: 50cm (20 in)
Ease Of Keeping: Easy
Lighting: Moderately Bright
Comments: Thrives in slightly acid and soft water with temperatures of 22-28 C (72-82 F) with periodic additions of iron rich fertilizer. One of the most beautiful aquarium plants with up to 20 or more dark green sword shaped leaves. This plant can be used singly in small tanks, or in groups for larger tanks. It's a tough plant, somewhat resistant to snails and smaller plant eating fish.
Note: Due to the common practice, by many suppliers, of growing some plants for resale in emersed conditions, this plant has a tendency to shed some leaves when first planted in an aquarium. But it usually recovers quickly on its own without any further complications.
