Shop Name: Amazonia
Location: Austin, TX Shop Address: 4631 Airport #116 Shop Website: http://www.amazonia.com Reviewed By: Dalto Date Of Review: September/2006 Overall: Very Good Times Visited: More Than Ten Visits Freshwater Selection: Excellent Saltwater Selection: No Saltwater Section Stock Selection: Excellent Staff: Fair Prices: Fair Comments: Amazonia is one of my top 3 fish stores in town. They have the broadest selection of cichlids in town with a great selection of Africans and a good selection of new worlds. They also have an excellent selection of community fish. They have an entire section filled with display tanks so you get an opportunity to see what many fish look like full grown. They have a great selection of tanks and supplies. It’s a great place to buy tanks. Staff is a mixed bag with some being knowledgeable and others not. The condition of their livestock is generally acceptable although they seem to lose a larger than normal amount of fish during acclimation so don’t buy fish that just arrived. The presentation there is not great because the tanks tend to be fairly grungy and dirty. Their prices vary from crazy expensive to relatively inexpensive. Overall, I would highly recommend this place to the mid-level to experienced fish keeper. Because of the price variations and poor presentation I don’t think it is an ideal spot for a beginner. |
