Comments: Over priced and not well taken care for. Let's say this... When you look in the treefrogs, there usually is atleast 1 dead, rotting frog on the ground.
Fish, when sick, usually aren't noticed or teated, and if you spot ich and let them know (on the fins, this is) they suually say "that's just the light hitting them"
They aren't very knowledgable, I once heard on employee say "you could probably do 10-12 fish in a 10 gallon tank" and say it is okay for bettas to be housed with goldfish. They take poor care of the fish and rodents, the rodents are on pine and cedar which rodents are highly allergic to. They have oils that detsroy cells of the respiratory system. I've told them repeatedly and they always say "no, that's just with red pine, everything else is okay." they also feed the rats hamster and gerbil food, instad of lab blocked and a variety of veggies.
Comment : If it were possible to edit this article, I gladly would, as I've much more to say with the poor quality service they offer within this store.
Not only do they purposely misinform and do not acknowledge many problems or ideas suggested/information offered, they also seem to talk smack on their customers to other customers during their workday.
They sold a woman whom I personally know a Lionhead rabbit, claiming it to be a Lionhead 'Mini", which, let me tell you, is legitimately a species. There are small versions of Lionhead rabbits. I knew the breeder of the said mislabeled creature, and discussed things with her as well as the lady who had purchased the animal and she promptly returned it to the store was was YELLED at.
Once after being verbally assaulted and interrogated about her source of information, she mentioned my name (Micah Belyea) and 'the breeder'.
The store stated I was just a 'trouble maker', that I caused numerous problems for them, etc etc. They also stated this woman was not their breeder, since her name, Carrie, was not mentioned in the first conversation and claimed they would not 'play guessing games' and had no breeder in the vicinity.
Once receiving this news, I marched down to the store and blatantly stated I was not pleased with the actions and words delivered by the store's owners, Jean and Richard. Immediately she went into an angry state and asked me to return at 5pm as if this were some type of middle school showdown, yet I calmly left and returned at 5 at which time she locked the doors and shut off nearly all the lights and faced me.
She claimed the buyer of the rabbit, who was present, was ordered to come in and yell at her, yaddayadda. Not the case. She also accused me of shoplifting fish from her store, mentioned this review of the store which in my opinion is much more pleasant than things actually are here (who wants to buy from a store that smells like feces and compost?), said I was damaging to her business by directing people elsewhere or giving them the information they had requested which ultimately caused lesser sales than they'd prefer solely because I explained basic and correct fish keeping, rodent or reptile care.
I'm sorry I would rather let people know Spotted Pictus Catfish are a robust, moderate sized fish which need a minimum of 30 gallons and will not fair in a 10 gallon aquarium. I will not tell people it is okay to put a Common Pleco in a tank with goldfish, let alone a 5 gallon tank with 3 Comets.
And, I'm still gonna tell people where they can get a 10 gallon set up for $30 instead of $85.
Mucho Gracias,
Micah.
