Water Sprite floating on the surface. © Clint Norwood Scientific Name: Ceratopteris Species Range: World Wide Tropics Adult Size: Up To 45cm (18in.) Usually smaller. Ease Of Keeping: Very Easy Lighting: Grows fastest with bright light but it will hold up well even low light conditions. Aquarium Requirements: Prefers bright light and soft slightly acidic water. But it will tolerate almost any normal Aqaurium conditions Note: A floating fern, Water Sprite can quickly cover the surface with new growth. This plant has many feathery roots that make excellent hiding for fry and small fish. Some varities can be planted in the substrate, but most do better when just left to float. Fish are very comfotable in a tank filled with Water Sprite, it has a calming effect on even the most timid types of fish. |
