Cardinal Tetras
Scientific Name: Paracheirodon axelrodi

Adult Size: 4cm (1¾ in.) long

Ease Of Keeping: medium

Community Fish: Yes, very peaceful

Aquarium Requirements: Optimal conditions would be clean, soft and acidic water with a temperature of about 25 C (77F). Avoid bright lighting unless plenty of plant cover is provided. Cardinal Tetras do best in schools of 6 or more. They will thrive in any well-maintained aquarium and live surprisingly long for such a small fish. Food for the Cardinals would include baby brine shrimp, micro worms, grindal worms and flake foods.

Additional Notes: Cardinals are very peaceful and pose no threat to any other fish, but they must be protected from larger tankmates which might mistake the Cardinals for a menu item.
