Adult Size: 2-3 inches

Spawning Method: The male of the species makes a bubble nest on the surface of non-moving water. The male will entice the female under his nest by dancing (fluttering fins back and forth). When the female is ready, she will show signs ie: looses horizontal stripes and gains vertical stripes and ova will pertrude (white spot on bottom behind the ventral fins). The male will embrace the female. The females eggs are released and the male will deposit sperm on them. The male then gathers them and washes them in his mouth and then puts them in the bubble nest. After 24 to 36 hours the fry called zygotes, will hatch. The male will continue to baby sit the fry, gathering them when they leave the nest and inserting them back into the nest. After several days the fry will swim and appear more as tiny adult form.
