None. What is your favorite color or pattern or tail? I have a quite a few favorite colors; chocolate, red & gold, white, black, pastel, 'koi head', purple, orange, yellow & blue, etc. So far my favorite tail types are crowntail and cross-ray crowntail. What kinds would you consider hard to find? I've found the ones I like fairly easily, so it's not a question of finding them but a question of price. Do you have pet store bettas or bettas purchased from breeders? My first betta was from Petco, my second that recently passed was from a semi-local aquarium store and my third was from a LFS but he was purchased from a breeder in Thailand. What do you feed your bettas? 2 Hikari Betta Bio-Gold pellets twice a day. Sometimes more if they beg enough. I also starve them once a week in an effort to prevent constipation. What size tanks do you have? What is your favorite color or pattern or tail? red/gold bicolor, either in double-ray crowntail or halfmoon What kinds would you consider hard to find? a really pure true gold, a very high quality opaque, true orange Do you have pet store bettas or bettas purchased from breeders? i have some from chain pet stores, some from independent pet stores, and some from breeders What do you feed your bettas? their staple diet is hikari betta biogold. they also get freezedried bloodworms, daphnia, and brine shrimp, bloodworms in nutritious gel, frozen brine shrimp, and live brine shrimp when i can find it What size tanks do you have? i have a whole bunch of 2.5 gallon, 3 gallon, and 5 gallon tanks for my males, and a 10 gallon shared by my females none of my local stores carry halfmoons, double-ray crowntails, or some of the colors i want, though. (well, actually there is a store up north that has hms and dr cts, but their finnage isnt very impressive and there's not much selection color-wise.) that's not to say pet store fish arent pretty, as i have quite a few myself, but sometimes if you're after a particular color or type/quality of finnage you have to buy from a breeder. i won't pay $60 for a single fish, though. marphuoes's AnswersHow many Bettas do you have?2 Males (Pastel and Orange) 3 Females (Pastel w/red, Green & Blue) How many of you have successfully bred, and if so how often/many times? Girls were special ordered from a breeder by a specialty store for me. What do you feed your bettas? Hikari Betta Gold like everyone else. What size tanks do you have? The one that I have currently is from my succesful spawn of pet store bettas. What do you feed your bettas? He will only eat micro-pellets What size tanks do you have? They spawned and now I have fry! What is the hardest part about breeding and raising fry, in your opinion? Ha! The whole freaking thing is hard! But.. it's after the fry have been born and you're on your own. Let me tell you.. those things are delicate! I haven't hit my 2 week mark yet.. but I still have a good half of what I started with. You can't change water for at least two weeks after born so you REALLY gotta watch how you feed. *Crosses fingers for her babies!* they're a week old now.. Sunday will be 2 weeks! What is your favorite color or pattern or tail? My favorite is my fish Sampson. His fins are so unique they like flow like hair.. so long too.. he's so perty! What kinds would you consider hard to find? Half moons.. Do you have pet store bettas or bettas purchased from breeders? Not sure. My lfs has really nice betta's. So do breeders.. so it's just cheaper to go buy a $3.50 fish.. instead of a $60.00 and sometimes way more. What do you feed your bettas? I have some pellets that I use and blood worms. What size tanks do you have? Sampson is in a 2.5g container. Squishy is in a 1g fish bowl.. Phantom is in a 2.5. And Bruno is in a 3g.. Orange for color. In terms of pattern, high contrast marbles. As for tail, I like even double tails, but am also quite happy with a healthy veil tail (too bad they are not thought of as highly). The fish I'll be bringing home from work tomorrow is a crowntail, but my co-worker who adopted him said that he came in with a shipment of veil tails, and was a bit of a fluke, as he wasn't expected in the shipment.
