Ambulia

By: SteveK

Asian Ambulia © Darla
Scientific Name: Limnophila heterphylla

Range: India, Sri Lanka, Eastern Asia, and Japan

Ease of Keeping: Easy

Lighting: Medium to bright

Adult Size: 20+ inches, I am unsure how big it actually gets. Everyone cuts it after it reaches the top of the aquarium.

Aquarium Requirements: This plant has very soft and dense leaves. A fast growing stem plant under ideal conditions, just remember not to plant the stems to close to each other otherwise the lower leaves will be starved for light. For most people ambulia seems to be easy than the more popular cabomba plant. This plant will also happily grow past the surface of the water, making it a good choice for terrariums. The emersed leaves are much thicker and not as soft as the submerged ones.
