Topic: When did Glofish have blue and purple?

I went to Petsmart to get some carbon and ammonia remover for my filter and while looking at the tanks I spotted blue Glofish. I went on the Glofish website and saw that there are purple fish now too. When did these fish came into existence?

I thought there was only red, green and yellow originally.

Yep, they are new, "new Cosmic Blue? and Galactic Purple?". I copy and pasted from their main page, which is how I got the trademark symbol to show up. I'm not sure if they're freshly created or cross breeds, I would tend to guess freshly created, particularly for the blue. The purple could be a red/blue cross, but I still tend to think they're freshly spliced as well.

EDIT: Ugh. The TM showed when I copy and pasted, even when I previewed, but now it's a question mark. Grr.

Haven't seen them in my neck of the woods yet. I take it the cosmic blue is "bluer" then regular blue danios. I'd like to see how those look under regular light as oppossed to under a black light.

Now that I'm down to 2 tanks I hardly ever go to the LFS anymore so I havent really been paying attention. Don't think I get some even if I did see them but would be interested just to see what they look like in person.

I've seen them - both colors look nice.  I am a sucker for glofish but I am resisting since they seem unhealthy.

Can't say the blue or purple impressed me, especially since they are a genetically engineered variant. There is a naturally occurring danio species that is just as blue as the new glofish color, or more so, but you won't find it in pet stores (online, yes).

I wonder if the prices have dropped on these things. When they 1st came out, the prices charged were rather exorbitant.
