You plan on keeping the fry? They are quite notorious for eating their own. Make sure the lil ones have a place to hide so their is a possibility of survival.

Ever notice in the Bible, whenever God needed to punish someone, make an example or needed a killing, he sent an angel? Ever wonder what a creature like that must be like? An existence spent praising your God, but always with 1 wing dipped in blood. Would you really want to see an angel?

Do the babies have a place to hide in the birthing net?  Otherwise, if you aren't right there,  she may turn around and have a quick dinner..... if you can, put in a bit of moss or something they can hide in.....  Or...... make sure it is the type of breeding/birthing net that has a separate compartment the fry can drop into to hide.

Birthing nets and boxes are a bad idea. They stress the parent and the babies cannot run away to prevent from getting eaten. Better to have a bunch of fake plants in the corner of the big tank, and leave the mom in the tank. The babies will find the plants and any hiding places and hide there. When my platies would have babies, I had bigger gravel in my tank. They babies would hide in the cracks of the gravel.

Gravel was 1/8 inch to 1/4 inch.

Mine always hid in the plants and gravel. Did not want to keep them but they found enough safety in those simple places to survive.
