when I had my wisdom teeth pulled they offered to do it under local, I refused.  I'd rather feel drugged for the rest of the day then be awake through that, I can barely tolerate them doing a normal filling!

My husband had lost a lot of his back teeth, so we decided to get a implant at a time.  At  $900 each we just get one paid off interest free and we get another.  Our Son had done cranck and had lost a lot of his teeth.  He just toughened up his gums so he could chew most anything.  I am glad my side keeps their teeth.  Hubby could not get comfortable in partial dentures.

I'd love implants but I'm allergic to metal, which is what the posts are made of.  If I could do a fe implants I could get some bridgework done which would solve alot of problems.  But alas it is not to be.

Surgical stainless steel, isn't it?

That or titanium - all of them contain some nickel and I'm allergic to it.

What a pain. My mom and I are both allergic to copper, we can wear high end jewelry, costume and stuff like 14 karat is a no-no. Mutual chemical burns, the jewelry and us. My glasses have to be plastic or 440 stainless.

Well I guess that means no implants for me either if I ever get to that point.  Dang it.  I can wear pretty much what I want for rings and necklaces for casual wear (though I made sure my wedding band had as little nickel as possible, titanium has some, but not as much as some metals), but I have peirced ears and I learned the hard way to be VERY carefull what the earings were made out of because I've a mild allergy to nickel.

ruth it's not just implants - it's everything.  Pins and screws to set breaks, stents to keep arteries open, hip and knee replacements - even the wire they use hold the breastbone together after bypass surgery.

In the case of more major treatments I bet they could give anti rejection drugs.  They would have to do something.  Do allergy shots work for metals I have never read or heard anything about that.
