I mentioned in an earlier post to use a combo of maracyn and maracyn 2.  Since we don't know if it is a gram neg. or pos. infection.  I'd really just do the water changes for now. go to the pet store and take a sample of water from the tank with you they will test it for free.  Write down the results for us so we can help you.

I'm still doing the water changes, I now add the water conditioner to the new water before I even put it in the tank. My catfish seems to be doing a little better, it's no longer resting on its side and is swimming better. I'm not sure if it is eating or not. I haven't had the water tested yet. It looks like the spot might have spread just a little bit. It is also a bit "jumpy" again (like if you knock the tank). I will continue doing the 20% water changes everyday until i get the water tested (I probably wont change the water the day before I test it). I also lowered the water level in the tank to help keep the oxygen levels high. I am trying to keep the water temp cooler (arround 68 - 70OF) to slow down the reproduction of any bacteria in the water. If I should raise the temp or do anything else different please let me know.

I would like to thank everyone for the help so far.
