You have the mid-water covered. Look for bottom dwellers.
If I had to live my life again, what would I avoid?

How big will those tin-foil barbs get?  I've seen them get pretty big....  5" or more, I'm sure.....

My point is that I'm not sure how much more he will want to put in the tank, allowing growing room for the barbs.

i got 6 because they are so small, didnt know how many would last. And i was looking at getting a clown loach and a pleco.

Anyone have any advice about Crayfish?

I think the tin foils will outgrow the 55g in a short time. They grow to a huge size VERY QUICKLY.

That was my point... that is a fish that people often see in a store, not realizing that they are tiny fry.

I saw one link that talked about tin foil barbs growing to 14".....  I wasn't sure if there were two species that were commonly called "tin foil barb" ...  but they clearly don't belong in most aquariums...  that's 84" for the 6 barbs he has...

Heck, I've got a goldfish out in my pond my daughter bought October 2008....  tiny "feeder" goldfish...  he ate snails in her tank, and is now in my pond at probably 8" .....  they grow so quickly!  (He grew to about 5" in just a few months, before it warmed up enough to put him outside.)

Clown loaches grow to 12', and so do common plecos. It sounds like your tank is already stocked to its limit.

Clown loaches... 12 feet? (12') or 12 inches?  (12") ... I think it was a typo, but wanted to make sure..

Yeah, the same with common plecos.....  I've seen them at probably 15" in one place... and they are such a POOP factory!  They leave long strings of poop hanging off everywhere.....

have a tinfoil barb in the 260g that I have at work and he's a good 8 + inches.  even in a 260 I feel bad for him, he should be in a lake, at least he isn't stressed like he used to be.  If my camera lets me take a low enough quality pic I'll post one
