feeding cories
« on: December 27, 2009, 05:13:18 PM »
How do you feed cories in a community tank without the other fish getting the food? I've tried feeding when the lights are out and feeding at different ends of the tank. The cories don't seem to recognize the tablets as food. The tablet can be sitting right next to them and they will go around it. :\ Please help..

They should figure it out eventually.  Mine eat anything that makes it to the bottom, and my dwarf cories clean off the plant leaves.

The thing is.. by the time they figure it out, the other fish are pushing them out of the way hahah.

Don't worry they will get what they need from the left overs and crumbs of the wafer. They also like shrimp pellets and most sinking food.

hmmmm, my cories always pushed their way in....how many do you have, if you only have one or two if there is more room  try to get as many as five, they will be more outgoing.

They search the whole tank in an order after they sense food so even if you drop the wafer next to them they might still swim around then finally find the wafer. Hunger will eventually make them to go compete with the other fishes for the wafer.

The techniques you mentioned > feeding at with the lights out & different areas of the tank generally do work. As the others have pointed out they will eventually get their fair share of any type of food that hits the bottom.

Ever notice in the Bible, whenever God needed to punish someone, make an example or needed a killing, he sent an angel? Ever wonder what a creature like that must be like? An existence spent praising your God, but always with 1 wing dipped in blood. Would you really want to see an angel?

I do have five and they are very outgoing.. so much so that they usually only venture out in pairs or trios. They just would much rather nose around the rest of the tank (and mulm) rather than eat the tablet in front of them. hahah.
