diy co2 for 55?
« on: November 25, 2009, 10:39:31 AM »
Reading up on diy co 2.  So far I am reading that it isn't really worth it to hook it up for a 55 gal.
My tank is 55 gal, with a Current 48 " dual compact  light on it.  And two 30-60 whisper hob filters.  It is cycled and fully stocked.
I have a unending battle with brown algae (the stuff on decorations and glass) and I have tried low maitence plants, and added floaters which end up getting covered with more algae or dying.  I cannot afford the cannister filters or any co 2 injections so I was thinking of doing a diy co 2 system...Is this going to work, anyone who has accomplished this can help me out. Recomment the best plants that would work with this ....my lighting, the filters, whatever....

What is the tottal wattage of the bulbs in the lighting strip?  That would help with plant selection.

DIY CO2 for a tank that size is a difficult proposition.  The most important thing is to have a consistent output, which is very difficult to achieve.
Cheers,

Andrew
