Announcing the Central Iowa Freshwater Sanctuary
« on: March 04, 2009, 05:05:47 AM »
I'm officially announcing the Central Iowa Freshwater Sanctuary open.  It started with rescuing some unwanted platies from a friend's grandmother.  Now it has evolved into actively seeking unwanted freshwater fish.  I have many years of experience with freshwater.  I would like to think that Mike (MPP) can vouch for my character :).  I am willing to pick up fish within a reasonable distance of Nevada, Iowa 50201.  Donations are welcome but I will not be actively seeking them, that's not why I do this.  It will function essentially as take a fish/leave a fish as I will post the rescue fish in stock.  I would prefer to stick with tropical non-agressive or semi-agressive fish but I'll do my best to house any living freshwater organism.  Feel free to drop me a line at bradmjohnson@gmail.com.

I'd love to do the same here, but it's not feasible at this time. Gonna happen eventually, though. Kudos to you!

Thank you.  I don't know what kind of a response I'll get but I might as well hang my shingle out there.

LOL I figured this thread would eventually get lost yn the pack. Stickying helps avoid that plus give it a more prominent placement on the page.

Ever notice in the Bible, whenever God needed to punish someone, make an example or needed a killing, he sent an angel? Ever wonder what a creature like that must be like? An existence spent praising your God, but always with 1 wing dipped in blood. Would you really want to see an angel?

What your doing is awesome!  Istarted my fish community with rescued fish from a science classroom.  they were literally going to just through them out!!  I live in northwest iowa.

I got a male and female tiger barb
(my purchase was a few mollies, but the tiger barbs would eat the babies)
a beautiful blue gourmi (sp.?)
some very pretty white fish, never figured out what it was, but it was big about 5-6 inches.\

Boy was my husband surprised when I came home and told him I needed help unloading the car.  It seemed like there were fish everywhere! LOL

Now I am addicted to fish.

My tiger barbs were the last to pass.  I had them 5 years and who knows how old they were when I got them.

Now I am addicted to fish.
