Hi there,
I don't know where M.D. is, so can't comment on specifics, but I suggest you contact the local goldfish fanciers club or breeders association or whatever and ask them. If you have trouble finding their details, look for local aquarists clubs in general, as I'm sure they will be able to put you in touch with some goldfish breeders.
The veiltail is such a specialised breed that I doubt you would find them in a pet shop, though you might find some fantails with veiltail characteristics - one of mine definitely has them. It's like how you wouldn't consider buying a real pedigree dog from a pet store - they only have mixtures, or animals of uncertain ancestry. If you want the good stuff you have to go directly to a breeder.
I'm actually glad to hear of pet shops advising people against buying goldfish. They must be one of the most mis-sold and consequently mistreated animals out there. So many of them are sold in tiny 5 gallon tanks

It's nice to hear of a shop actually advising people that goldfish are messy animals, as hopefully it will encourage more people to buy large aquariums for their goldies!
Good luck in your search.
