Thanks!

I think I spent more money than necessary since I am a perfectionist but I can see something very nice being built on minimal funds.

Speaking of this, GQ did you ever keep tally of the $$$ that went into your tank? I think mine has cost been over $250...not including the tank/lights which were here to begin with.

You know, I did my tank on the cheap!  The tank we already had (we'd gotten that for free with a Tegu we were fostering).  I spent about $4 on the substrate, used cuttings from houseplants and a spray bottle I already had.  Lol, so besides the frogs my total was around 5 bucks?  Frogs were mostly rescues from work, so I didn't pay anything for most of them.  :)

I may be rejoining this thread again with another project though!  Much smaller this time, working with a 10 gallon half water set up for Harm's firebellies.  Hubby's cutting me some plexi this weekend and siliconing it in a spare 10 to make a divider between land and water.

I'll be using a new tool for me, Hyrdo-Balls as drainage on the land side, then a mix between soil and eco-earth (just 'cause I already have a bunch of that!) for the rest.  I may toy with making a small water fall and stream if I get really ambitious (and lucky, because assembly etc is NOT my strong point!).  I'll be trying some living moss and small tropical house plants.  I'll be using a stingray submersable filter for the water side and may pop in a trio of danios or something.  No live plants for the water, Harm's big apple snail lives there and consumes every bit of real plant matter in sight.  Hope he doesn't crawl up on land and eat that stuff too!  I'll just use fake stuff for the water side.

well, as long as hubby holds up his end of the bargain, I'll take the initial pics this weekend.  Initial set up will be the divider being siliconed in the tank, then it will have to cure for 24 hours.  Hopefully on Sunday I can take pics of putting all the parts together and adding the dirt and moss etc.  And, maybe if I'm super ambitious, even putting the firebellies into their new home!

We'll see though, I'm crossing my fingers hubby doesn't hold out on me with the plexi. :)

That sounds great! Not sure how much/how difficult plexi is but for a few bucks you could do a false bottom in yours too.
