Thanks! I hope to be getting a few other supplies in soon(corkbark). This might all come together in the next few weeks.

Also going to go out and find some cool branches...I read manzanita works great in both viviariums and aquariums...we've got hills covered with that stuff here.

You get all the luck!
I've put a couple of plants in the tank, just to fill some space.  I put a pot and planted some seeds in it too.  ONly thing I had on hand was some bunny tail grass.  I figure I can use it outside next spring!

Got my first frog!  A juvie gold tree frog needed a home at work so now it has the 75 all to itself!  The tanks got the basics, but looks pretty bare.  So, hopefully this is the kick in the but I needed to get the rest of my stuff!
His/her name is Cookie and he's hiding behind a rock right now.  Pics soon!  It's just to hot upstairs to use the comp up there for pics, so I've been using the laptop wich doesn't work for loading pics for some reason.

Excellent! What are you going to do with the mystery frogs? Will they share the tank?

Need photos. :)

The mystery frogs are so tiny I'd be afraid they'd get eaten.  So, they'll stay in the minibow, they seem happy there, save for when I walk by, then they're hopping like crazy to hide!  I toyed with the idea of putting the 2 tadpoles I have in the water feature in the 75, but I thought that the tiny froglettes would be to vulnerable to being eaten before I could get them outa there.  I do have 1 unidentified tadpole, it's not the same as the other mystery frogs.  Got it for free at another fish store where it was with some ghost shrimp.
I know, I need to take pics!  I'll warn though, it does look a bit scrappy for the time being.  I'm slowly getting more plants and decor, and still looking for that perfect piece of wood for the center.  And, I had to bring home this fat WHITE cuban tree frog yesterday.  No one would buy him because he looked so funny!  He's currently hiding behind some plants, but late last night the gold tree frog came out for the first time.  I turned on the light and he was like one of those garfield car thingys on the glass.  ;D
Anyhoo, hopefully my upstairs will be tollerable today and I'll take some pics.
How are the plants going?
hmmm, love the sound of lots of crickets chirping away all night, it's so relaxing.  The big ones are going through my green cubes too fast though!

Interesting stuff!

I'm not sure what species the golden treefrog is, but cuban treefrogs are voracious predators and will not hesitate to devour anything smaller than themselves. Cute, but hungry.  :D Must have photos! I'd personally try to stick with one species, but we'll see how things go.

Also how hot is the tank? Anything over 85 and I'd be worried for the frogs. Tiger legged monkey frogs(Phyllomedusa hypochondrialis azurea) are exposed to temps over 100 in the wild but prefer drier conditions...might be a good choice if you can't keep things cool.

Ah yes, the quest for the perfect piece of wood. I know I can get as much manzanita as I want but any log looking pieces I'd probably have to purchase(I do have some Malaysian driftwood in use in the to be paludarium that I will be using so that helps alot).

Plants are doing well, many are rooting now and a few are growing new leaves.

Crickets chirping at night...cool! Crickets escaping and turning up unexpected...amusing except to everyone else who happens to share your house!

Hmm...the scientific name on your frog could be Polypedates leucomystax...the golden or flying foam nest treefrog.(no idea where flying comes from)

you've got it on the foam nest!  We have a customer who's a frog nut and she was able to identify these guys for us as they were, as she called them "LBTF's (little brown tree frogs)" labeled as pretty much anything at differnt pet stores.
I'm sticking with just those "golds" and cubans, making sure that they are all pretty much the same size.  I'm not going to much around with anything else, don't want to push my luck too much.  These 2 guys will be the only 2 residents for quite some time.
As for temp, right now it hasn't been getting over 82F.  And I was acctually a bit worried today because it was down to 75F.  And I keep it pretty moist in there, around 60-70% humidity.  I've been misting 2-3X daily with de-chlor water.
Now I've got some questions for you!
What would be the best way to heat this in the winter?  A lamp would probably dry out too much, but I'm worried that an under-tank heater wouldn't do enough.
With my plants I'm using a good aquarium 4ft strip light, but of course the frogs are nocturnal so....how much do I need the light on and would it be possible to keep the light off during the day and on at night?
Someone was telling me that you could sex Ranas by their ears, if it's as big as their eye it's a male, smaller it's a female.  If that's true, my cuban is a female.  And I haven't heard any croaking from the foam nest goldie yet, so I'm assuming female for now.  Any truth to this ear thing?
teehee, polypedates...many feet? many toes?  leucomystax...milky/creamy something or other?  My latin sux.

How cold will it get in the winter? If it is above 65 I don't think I'd worry much, at least for the Cuban since they survive fine in FL. Otherwise either of the two options would work...I'd imagine the undertank heater would be more efficient.

Yes you can switch the photoperiod around...this is very useful in the summer when the light would otherwise heat the tank up even more during the day(you could always stop using the light altogether). I'd imagine the plants would be fine with 10-12 hours of light, watch and observe em.

Yep, in males the ear opening is larger. I have no idea if this works with cubans but if you look at some photos online and notice a difference chances are it works. I know this works very well with bullfrogs and the like.

No hablo Latin!

OMG pictures!!!!!!!!!

first one is the whole tank
second is the water feature
3rd is a very happy cuban

Like I mentioned before, it's far from done!  this is just sort of scraps.  And the plants aren't permanant, I just wanted some plants in there while i save up some extra cash for the ones I really want.
