I see her pic now lol! She's a lovely VT female, though she is showing stress stripes in that pic.

I hate to be discouraging but I just wanted you to know exactly what breeding entails before you made the decision to breed. It's not easy and I didn't even try it with Zebra Danios until I'd already been keeping fish for 10 years and had my own fish room and tons of supplies. Even then it was all still overwhelming and on a scale of 1-10 with Guppies being 1 and fish who have only been bred in captivity a few times known to man being 10, I'd say Danios are 3 and Bettas are a 7.

Sorry to be discouraging but I'd rather you know up front.

np, i like learn about things and give encouragement while being upfront... makes things less stressfull then.  as i have said many times, i'm not new to fish keeping, just new to it being a serious hobby which is why so many things are new to me.  i have had betta's most of my life, just never got serious about them in aspect of breeding. there is a lot to learn and would rather have positive learning than overwhelming learning.  i enjoy my fish and plan on continuing to enjoy them, even if i have a lot of big tanks or a lot of small tanks.. no matter...  they will be well taken care of in any tank and given the best treatment i can give them.  i like to plan things, i'm a planner, i plan on plans...  i'll just stick to basic questions and do my research. thanks for your advice and help though hun.. it is always appreciated from everyone..

the picture isn't the best quality, but, her stress is due to surviving a 1st time cycleing in that tank, just as the danio's did as well.  she is doing very well and is actually the most active and personable betta i have ever had.  she is actuaally a solid velvet blue.. could be the lighting too, i used my cell phone and the light is right above her in that pic.

I can see she's probably a very nice deep shade of blue like one of my first females was. Those dark colored girls show stripes at the least amount of stress, though when they're ready to breed their vertical breeding bars are just as stunning.

If you want lots of male bettas you can always divide a big tank into smaller compartments. I have a bunch of 4-way divided ten gallon tanks for my males. Quarantine is extremely important if you're gonna do it that way though, I know from experience sadly.

yeah, i have been reading a lot on threads about dividing tanks and such for the males.  only tank i have for dividing is my tall 25 gal but, that is going to be getting set up and running in about 2 months or so again.  i do want to give it a go before i get my large tank set up and going at the end of the year as i will have a whole new ball park going on with that as i will be putting live plants in that tank and doing the whole shabang basically.  but that is several moons from now lol i just want to enjoy my 12 gal and get my 25 gal set back up again and running.  once i do that, maybe we an talk on how i can go about getting ready to breed? of course, it will end up being a different female by that point though as by what you said earlier, betty will be too old to breed. which is a shame, she really is a beautiful little girl.  she and the loach are palling around actually.. and she is letting the loach into her shoe too...  lol anyway..  i do appreciate the advice and knowledge..  i like to plan ahead on things..  i like to plan on plans lol sickening i know..  then i do things on a whim as well, but, know that i have more knowledge about my fishkeeping hobby, i want to plan things better.  ok, off to bed i go.. hagn..
