hmm...this depends on the type of parasite....if it is internal then yes, you would see the betta showing those other symptoms that you mentioned....but some external parasites just borrow under the skin to lay their eggs giving that pimple appearance and don't really have the above affect....also, that lump is pretty new so it is possible that it hasn't started to affect your fish just yet...Im still hanging onto something being stuck....you don't have any live plants in the betta tank, do you?  If you do, perhaps some snails hitched onto the plants and your betta could have swollowed one?  Dunno, just a theory..

Live plants, yes: some anachris, microsword, java moss, and java fern. I cleaned out the plants when I cleaned out her tank last week and haven't seen any snails, but it's possible that some could have come in with the recently-added java fern. She does live alone, btw.

hmm...I've seen one of my bettas swallow a small pond snail and there was a small lump in its throat right after for a short time, too.  It didn't seem to bother him and didn't last very long.  If this is infact parasitic, the lump might burst as the parasites hatch....if you see the lump turning into a sore, then you know it is parasitic. :)

what would it look like as a sore? red? white? (blue? haha, j/k) I'll take some pics tomorrow and compare them with the ones from when I first noticed it.

once the parasites burrow their way out of the skin?  It would look like a red wound....

Or blue, if it is an alien betta :smiley1:

If you aren't doing so, change 100% of the water every day and add salt at each time.  It also may be just one of those misc lumps!

this morning I fed her a bit of pea after fasting her for the last 3 days. the lump is still there, and i'm not completely sure, as i haven't had time to take more pictures (school just started up again), but it may have changed in appearance, i.e. a parasite may have burrowed out. But until I can compare photos I don't know. I'll keep ya'll posted.
