My red vt has some little black bumps on his fins. What are they? Could they be parasites?

Are they on his pectoral fins (little flappy fins on his sides)? A few of my bettas have this, it's just normal coloration. :) A pic would definitely be helpful though.

If they are raised black bumps, it could be parasitic. Anything lumpy looking isn't really related to colouration...I third the pics suggestion.

Good point nessa, the ones I was describing aren't raised, just black spots on his pectorals...does anyone else's bettas have this or am I just nuts? :P

Yeah, I know what ya mean!  I have a few darker coloured bettas with this 'dalmation" patterning in specific places, too :)

If they are bumps, it could be black spot.  I'd treat for parasites if it is that.

I'm not having a lot of luck getting a picture. But it does look like black spot. He's had it for a few weeks. Will salt and aquari-sol cure it?

In the link I provided, it states theta treatment isn't necessary and that the spots will dissapear over time.  A bit of salt wouldn't hurt though!
