Yes, otos are peaceful tankmates with plecos. They does "scrubbing" of the tank wall and driftwood very well as well.

otto's get along great with plecos 99% of the time.

I had one pleco that did not like them, but it after it got moved it did not like the bichir I had in there as well... I guess I just a had a mean pleco.

but in my 20 gal thank it's working out great... see below

Great website tiresius, Ill keep that in my bookmarks for sure!!!!! I LOVE these little fish, I think every tank needs to have them.. Ive had them before, but not at the moment. I have no room left in my tank for anything right now until I get my sharks and raphaels sold/re-homed.  :-\

I love this site. it was the main reason i first purchased otos. only problems is it doesn't tell how to care for eggs and fry once they've been laid/hatched. i have a feeling i'll need help with that.

I checked out you web before..nice  and full of info.

Last week I bought 2 otos for my planted tank(the other inhabitants are paradise fish). Within two days, They ate up all visable signs of algae of the the tank walls, plants and rocks.  Afterwards to supplement their diet I've tried all manners of vegatables, seaweed and algae wafers..all of which they haven't touched.

It concerns me, I don't want them to starve. Their bellies seem full, they are swimming all over the place with their mouths working..Are they getting algae I just can't see with the naked eye and is that why their not touching the offered food?

Maybe a dumb question....  are oto's considered "scaleless" ?  One of my new ones (still in quarantine, thankfully) has ich... :-\

The ich medication says not to use on scaleless fish.

ottos are scaless fish i think

and don't treat ich, raise the temp to 85 and put aquarium salt in the tank, look on old articules for better description,
