cleaning betta tank
« on: August 14, 2005, 08:34:35 PM »
have 2 homemade betta tanks that are plastic---hold around 2 gallons each, I use the syphon hose that I use in my 10 gallon tank to suck the muck from the gravel.  Can I do this lets say 3 times a week a replace about 90 % of the water so as not having to remove the poor guy each time.

Do you have a test kit for amonia? (and not a strip test kit, a drop kit).  If you do, then I'd try it for a couple weeks, testing the water every other day.  The instant you see a readable testing of amonia htough you need to do a full 100% water change and from then on do one a couple days soon than the test kit read amonia.
