I keep a male betta ina community tank, he's such a good boy, and never bothers anyone..well My mom who knows nothing about fish said he should have a friend lol. But I'm like..I don't think he can! So are famles allowed to be witha male? or is that only during breeding time? thaks for the help. I only know about the males , but nothing on females.

we don't want that then. My betta lives happily with mollies, and neons. So it would be the female that's meanie. lol.

not necessarily.  both genders can live happily with other species, and females can live with their own species in a large enough tank.  you just can't mix male-male or male-female.

maybe that IS his color.  bettas come in all shades.  is that the color he has always been?

Yeah, it IS his colour, but I was wondering  why..I like to question things, all other bettas are bright.

well because he was born THAT colr. Like super said they come in all different shades. He was born that way. thats WHY he is that color.

not all others are bright, there are white bettas and other light colored shades. they really do come in all colors :)
