I agree Bettas can be moody when you change their home. I just moved my male Betta from a 0.50 g to a 2.5 g aquarium. I put in a bunch of pygmy grass and another kind of grass. He sulked until I put his goofy plastic plant in it. Once I stuck that thing where it was in the old tank (right in front of the filter) he started swimming around and now he's making bubble nests all in his little home. A well planted aquarium should be no problem for a Betta.
