Tank Dividers and Plants
« on: July 08, 2005, 06:41:12 AM »
Thanks for all of your help. As you know, I'm new.

I just bought a 10 gallon for my 2 males.  I saw some dividers in the pet store but they are incredibly expensive!  Any idea on making a divider that is not so darn costly?

Also, what is the best type of live plant to put in there?

I love this board! :inlove:

Hi
For the live plants, you can use anything because bettas wont eat them :)

I'd recommend any plants that have large leaves for the bettas to rest on.

For some reason all my bettas absolutely love water sprite..they literally cuddle into it like a pillow or something...and it's usually easy to grow/keep for most. Also, HIGHLY recommend trying the canvas dividers, it's not as costly as buying dividers, can be a little messy, but when everythings done it's gratifying..at least for me it was. Best of luk.

finally! I found the plant I was trying to tell you to get... the Tiger Lotus: http://www.petfish.net/Tiger_Lotus.htm

I have silk versions of them, very good for your bettas to rest on.

lighting as said is a very big factor, aside from that i have wisteria in one of my divided tanks and it grows through the diivders (plastic canvas) which i dont mind because then i have one plant for two sections lol. java moss is good too for hiding or sleeping etc.
i'm in my own happy little world. dont worry. they know me there.

Thank you so much for the ideas.  I bought  java moss and he is very happy now.  Blowing bubbles everywhere!
