Betta girls question
« on: June 15, 2005, 02:32:27 PM »
Hi everyone

Well, I am getting ready to try again after that awful bout of columnaris. I have Sparkalina (my survivor- who is still quarentined) and will be receiving 2 girls tomorrow (who will go into quarentine! I have learned my lesson about putting fish in before I know they are healthy).

I have a cycled 10 gal with 2 small corys (the kind that stay small). Of course while at the fish store they had a petite little cream girl (about 4 mo old) who was just adorable. I walked away but can't stop thinking about her.

Would it be too much on the bio load if I had 4 girls and 2 corys in the 10 gal? I am really torn. My husband said no more tanks so I would have to try in my 10 gal.

Might be pushing it, how big are the cories, and you said they're the kind that stays small....but whats small? 1 inch? 2.5 inches?

These Corys will stay under 1 1/2". At least that is what the lfs said. Right now they are probably an inch long nose to tail fin.

Then i'd say you might be ok?  assuming all the ladies agree to get along, that being a major issue

I wouldn't do more than 3.  Three is the max number of females a 10g can hold as far as territory goes.  I think the bioload would be okay with 4, but there is simply not enough 'floor' space for them to stay peaceful.

If the fish is that cute, get her a 2g bowl.
