Sushi jumped out!
« on: June 10, 2005, 12:17:55 PM »
We went to Target this morning and came home, put away groceries, and I went to get some quarters off my desk for laundry and there was Sushi laying on my desk-she was still alive so I picked her up and tossed her back in the tank.

She started swimming around but was holding one of her side fins against her body and not using it so I was afraid she was really hurt. But now a couple hours later she's swimming fine and back to ruling the tank. Poor Sushi-that probably wasn't the adventure she was looking for.

I have some gaps in the back of the tank where the filter goes that I've taped plastic wrap over so they don't jump-guess that didn't work so I'll be figuring something else out.

Wow, she had quiete an adventure, i am glad she is safe though! you could cover the tank temporairly, (until you get the cover) with saran wrap/plastic wrap or lay heavy book across the top, to prevent jumping.

The tank is covered-she's just really, really, good. I've got a 1 inch gap between the filter and the rest of the hood that she snuck through.

i think there was a quarter inch gap in coopers small iso tank in the sorority tank.  ANY gap is a bad gap.  I've seen bettas jump out of the holes petstores put in the lids of the betta containers...

When one of my bettas jumped he got his ventral fin stuck to his side but it got back to normal in a day.

She definitely back to being queen of the tank. I put in a turnip leaf for the snail and she was right there thrying to nose past my hand and see what I was putting in "her" tank.
