I got these guys today!!! They were just labled as dwarf gouramis so I don't know if they're dwarf banded or dwarf neon blue.  I"m so excited!  I've been debating and debating on what to do with this tank since my platys died a while ago.  I got three of them and an albino corey cat (since I had one and they're happy in groups).  I think I'll get 2 more later when the tank stabilizes after these guys.  I want 5 total gouramis, 3 albino corey cats, and 3 otos.  It's a 30 gal tank that's been cycled for about a year. I've never had gouramis before! :)

They are beautiful. Fair warning, if those are males they will more then likely start to fight.

Ever notice in the Bible, whenever God needed to punish someone, make an example or needed a killing, he sent an angel? Ever wonder what a creature like that must be like? An existence spent praising your God, but always with 1 wing dipped in blood. Would you really want to see an angel?

Yup, there's some aggression between them, but nothing big.  More chasing each other slowly than actual full out attacks.  One is more aggressive than the other two, but he'll only really start some stuff when the other guys come near it.  Plus I'm sure territory is being established.  Plus they figured out they can hide in the plants, and I have a fair number of plants.  (Need one or two more plus it says online they like having plants on the top of the surface)  Now that I see them in the tank, I think I'll prob just stay with 3 instead of my original plan of 5, maybe 4 but I heard even numbers isn't a good idea.  But they leave my albino corey cats alone even when the coreys basically run into them.  :hihi:

I can't really tell so, you should add some hiding places just incase they get into a big fight anytime soon. I really like those kind of Gourami.

If you so desire, place a couple of floating plants at the corners. They love to pick out out a corner under some plants to call their own. You might even catch some of them making a bubble nest amongst the floating plants.

Wow!  I knew that they had labyrinth organs but I thought only bettas made bubble nests.  That's cool!  But it seems that they're figuring out pecking order.  I did break up a fight earlier (just circling and biting the tails)  Only one I've seen, but of course that means they've had more. But for now they seem to have divided up the big clump of plants in the corner.  One is way at the bottom in near the gravel, one is in the middle in the back, and one (the bully) seems to be in the other plants.  They all come out and swim and everything, but they seem to always go back to the same place in the plants.  Kinda worried about the bully, but if push comes to shove I know that I could take him back and exchange him for another (hopefully less agressive) of the same species.  That's the joy of buying from the mom and pop fish stores, much more understanding than Petsmart.

But for now, they all have all their fins, no real damage to each other, look healthy, swim great, and are eating. :)  I think they're so pretty!  My fiancee didn't care what kind I got as long as the tank had color, and i thought dwarf gouramis were perfect!  Now just waiting on the assassin snail shipment (should be here wednesday) for my other tank, and I'll be happy as can be! Oh, and a great thing I saw was the one gourami eating the big algae off the plants (you know the stringy weird almost thick mossy looking kind).  I was so excited to see that!  My oto won't go near the stuff.

Hi, I successfully bred my Paradise fish some months ago and ended up with now some fully grown males and smaller juveniles (not sure of the sex yet).  I hope they are not all males as they have been easy to get.  I have around 14 paradise fish total and they all get along well in one tank.  I purchased another blue male recently to breed with one of my females and Petsmart said they were discontinuing Paradise fish as they weren't popular anymore!  What a shame!  I put the new one in with my other Paradise tank and immediately my big male started circling him and the new one did too, they were ready for the fight so I took the new one out and put him in another tank.

Later on I might be interested in selling some of my fish, they are truly beautiful!  Orange with blue stripes.

Anyway, just thought I would talk about this with some people that might be interested!

I'm new here and so glad I found this forum!!  I am a Gourami lover from way back (I mean, I love them....but only as friends :hihi: )  I had some blue's that were about six years old and still going strong a couple of years ago, but then I got sick and had to take down the tank :(  They all went to good homes, but I missed them and the fascination of having aquariums in general :-\  Happy to say that I am recovered from my illness and have recently set up a new tank!!!  My husband and sons did all the work and we will be having someone come in to provide maintenance (in case I were to get sick again or otherwise not be able to take care of the tank) so I can just enjoy my hobby again!  I have two opalines and one gold so far...all still babies about 1.25" long.  I will be adding some blues eventually   This is a picture of the gold, named "Mentos"  :hihi:  I love having Gourami's again and look forward to chatting about all things Gourami!! :inlove:

Welcome Gourami Mommy! I just re-entered the gourami world myself with 5 Sparkling Gouramis(Dwarf Croakers). I moved my juvenile knife and bichir to their larger permanent home and had wanted sparking gouramis for a while, so it was a good excuse to replace the bioload in my 29. :hihi: I think you'll like it here, good mix, friendly people.
