mine are all in my room, set up on shelving units, my dresser, night stand, armoire, etc.  most of my girls live together in a 20 gallon long.  all the other fish have their own tanks, anywhere from 2.5 to 10 gallons

Mine are mostly in one room in the house (the fish room).  The girls live together in a 20gal and 14 of my boys live in the tank I built for them (you can see it here). Each section of the tank holds 2.5 gallons, or just over 8 litres. The tank is designed to be treated as one tank instead of 14 little tanks in one big one, so I only have to do a 30% weekly water change.  It has a fluval 104 filtering the whole tank. One male lives on my desk in the office in a 3 gal.

I have a question for you vanessa - when i had my males in a divided tank where they could see each other they seemed to get so stressed out theyw would start chewing up their tails. Snoopy is only just recovering and his tail is onely 1 inch long ! :( So - if i was to do something like what you made...would they still get too stressed ?

I keep all my fish in my room. Most of them are in one gallon tanks. Also I have a 20gal growout tank and 4 ten gallon tanks. I keep the 20gal and a 10 on my dresser and the one gallon tanks are on a bench and the rest of the ten gallons are on a coffee table that is on my desk (which used to be our kitchen table). ;D

I keep all my bettas in my fish room, exept for one female in our 40 gal community tank in the living room, and my office fishy. Right now I have two bettas in 2.5 gallons, two in 1 gallons and 1 in my spawning tank prepping for his arranged mariage. :P I also have 16 fry in quart sized jars.

I agree with the other poster. I had six fish in two tanks with dividers (3 in each) and they got so stressed out, I lost three of them, seperated the rest and lost them about a week later. They were always going at each other and never calmed down. I have been petrified to do it again, but it would definitely save me some space if I could!

all of my boys can see each other; they're not stressed out.  in order to get them to flare (say, for photos), i have to show them a boy that they don't normally have a view of.  if i put them next to their "usual" neighbors, they don't bother
