i just got the latest AKA journal a few days ago and while reading through it i found this. it sais

"we have seen in "killietalk" lately a tremendous amount of controversy over postal regulations for shipping fish domestically. Wright Huntley finally found the postal regulation that requires the US postal service to ship our fishes, and he suggests you affix the following label to your package:"

didnt get to scan the label since i dont have a scanner. i know a few of you here are AKA members so you shoulve gotten the latest journal. if someone with a scanner can do the rest of us a favor and scan the label and post here thatll be great. its on page 13 on volume 37 of the AKA journal. but basically the label sais

PERISHABLE
Small Cold-Blooded Animals
DMM CO22.3.2

the article continues with

" this messgae fits on a standard 5160/8160 laser/ink-jet address label. the PERISHABLE is 22 pt. Arial Black and should be printed in red ink. the res is Arial 12 pt., bold and all three lines are horizontally centerd on the label. every post office has the regulation book that contains DMM CO22.3.2 so you can tell them to just go read the words"

someones gotta sticky this!

Another good tip: order boxes online. You can package them, address them, and have them all ready to go before you even leave. This saves me about 20 minutes of standing in line to get boxes, filling them out at the bleedin post office, and then standing in line again to mail them.

And if you want to add a tip for shipping via fedex to this as well.. Don't mention anything about perishable or FISH on the box.. Sad   fishy lives depend on it...
My mom went in, after the fish'd been bagged for a day.. and they didn't accept the box.. then next day.. they took it finally.. i wrapped it up in craft paper.. and Um..needless to say half the shipment was DOA>. *sigh* stupid fedex.. Of course If I'd been more adequately supplied this wouldn't have happened. but.. Whatifs don't get you anywhere..

There's my two pennies..

its sorta illegal to not declare whats in the package and can be subject to fines. so id becareful doing that. not to mention if they dont know whats in it then they wont handel it properly.

ive orderd fish from certain companies over fedex before tho, if you are a licensed shipper then theyll let you, otherwise they wont
