another dead guppie
« on: January 31, 2011, 05:34:57 PM »
i just found another dead guppie
with the same  injuries as the previous one
chewed up tail

so it was NOT  the daffodils  that  killed the previous  guppie

could it be that  they are competing with each other  ?   (  1 male guppie  and  6  formerly  7  guppies  )

or could it indeed be the betta  ?

I would need more details to hazard a guess as to what happened. Typically a female guppy would be robust enough to outrun a betta.

I have a question.... are any of your LIVE guppies having problems with chewed tails?

I ask this because... when a fish dies, many of the other fish will nibble at it....we rarely see the dead fish until a bit after it dies.

you just may be experiencing fish die-off, not necessarily aggression.

I've had guppies who lost their tails but it was from disease, not from being chewed off.  And it can happen very quickly - one day the guppie is fine and the next it's hovering at the surface with most of it's tail missing and a few hours later it's dead.

Yes it could be the Betta.
Betta should be kept in solitary.
Not with other smaller fish!
Get the Betta in another tank!!!
