Silver Dollars turning orange?
« on: January 18, 2010, 07:38:20 AM »
Help! I just did a water change in my community tank--all kinds of tetras, algae eaters, and silver dollars--and I tried this new stuff that was recommended to me called Fresh Trace, to put some minerals and vitamins back in the water. Well I literally just tried it and now my silver dollars are turning orange and I have never seen it before. Their fins are turning orange, around their gills, and above the darkish horizontal line down their bodies. I have rummynose tetras and their faces are still red, so I can't figure out if something is wrong. Help, I'm worried they are dying!

I would do an immediate water change until you figure out what the heck is going on.  Maybe try to contact the manufacturer - I think it's Seachem?

Well I was able to do some more research, and it seems that my silver dollars are trying to mate -.- Funny thing is, is that all three of them are males. Lmao. But they are fine, I tested the water, etc, and everything was good, so putting the Fresh Trace in the water must have done something to them lol.

Yes, red colors are usually good in fish!
