trying to post a pic not too good at this first it tells me pic too big then it says i've already submitted this grrrrr
I have hermit crabs. Febuary 3rd will be 3 years I've had my original 2, and I have about 6 or 7 total. The oldest being kept by 1 person is 34 years, she got them in 1976. If anyone is interested in a great site/forum for hermits check out crab street journal. They can actually be very energetic and entertaining, but everything for them has to be almost exact to what they need, to thrive they can really need perfect environment. They will last awhile with ok environment but won't be active. there temp needs to be 76-80 with a warm side and a cool side, and the humidity for them needs to be 80. I actually have never really bought much for them from a petstore as everything labeled for hermits are just money makers. The commercial food, over time can be lethal, they have preservatives, even though they are called hermit crabs they are part of the arachnid family, making pesticides and preservatives deadly. They are definetly not for everyone, but can also be quite addicting. they also have an adoption area, they ask alot of questions lol but they do get homes that really really take care of these guys.
