Have been reading up on the title and was wondering if anyone had any units they just totally love.

I recommend RO/DI systems from Airwaterice and Filterguys. Both systems work very well and their service is wonderful. However there are many other brands that work well, I just really like these two.

Now when it comes to which model, well that depends on a few things. Tank size, livestock, quality of your tap water, how much water you need filtered per day, etc. All these need to be taken into account before making a decision.

agreed  I use an airwaterice typhoon III extreme.  I had some initial problems with it and with a phone call to the manufacture the helped me through it.  My system came with the wrong restricter, the prefilters were installed in the wrong order and the ESOV was installed incorrectly but after getting everything lined out it has been a great system and they have good customer service they sent me out a new restricter immediatly.

Thanks all, i sold off some excess equipment and picked up a Airwaterice Typhoon III extreme. A bit more then we need at the moment however hubby will be getting into saltwater in a year or so, so we planned accordingly.
System seems to be working just fine.

Do you continue to use water conditoner with rodi water?

Does fresh rodi water need to be aerated? Or only when stored? Thinking I need to aerate something to do with the molecules and lack of oxygen.

If you are using RO/DI water for a saltwater tank the only other thing thats needed is a marine salt mix. Never use pure RO/DI water for freshwater tanks, it lacks the needed minerals for freshwater fish.

RO/DI water should only need to be aerated or circulated if you add something. This can be marine salt mix for doing a water change in a saltwater tank or when adding tap water, buffers and/or additives for a water change in a freshwater tank. If you are storing pure RO/DI water you don't have to keep it aerated.

Not completely true, it is excellent for top offs, as it doesn't add more of what's left behind by evaporation, it just brings mineral levels back to where it was pre-evaporation. It can also be used to simulate spring rains to induce spawning in certain species. But for that, you had better know what you're doing for the very reason Perfectblue mentioned, it is utterly lacking "impurities" necessary for healthy freshwater creatures that occur in ALL natural bodies of water.

When is the use of a booster pump indicated? One of my local retailers has the Coralife unit with the booster pump.  As my mains water is very cold during the winter, I'm guessing the pump would help get the most of the filter.  I need to provide softer water for some of my killies - they spawn but the eggs are not viable.

A booster pump is used to raise the pressure(psi) of water. Its mainly used if your tap water pressure is too low for the RO/DI system to function properly.
