Does anyone have a good list of emergent plants?

I'm looking into setting up a second tank and planning on an open tank with emergent plants as well as submerged.

I've been reading Diana Walstad's book.  It's very interesting and informative.  I have studied that much scientific data in 35 years.   LOL

The list of truely submerged plants is much smaller. Most aquarium plants can be grown emerged.

Those major exporters grow the true submerged plants emerged. For example, the amazon sword is grown only with the roots and some stems in water while the leaves are out of the water but moist. That is why when you first place an amazon sword in water. The original leaves shed because of the change but new leaves will grow soon.

Thanks for the info.

I didn't know that about the sword plant....I'll have to do some more studying before actually setting up.

I've seen my ludwigia grow right out of the water before too. The leaves grew a gorgeous waxy cuticle and did just fine until I trimmed it.
