yes indeed, I am still determined to make my own aquarium ornaments. XD it has been in long, and largely fruitless haul, but I have the will! er, just not the way. Well, actually that's not entirely true. Since most bisque ware ceramics are aquarium safe, I think I just might sculpt something out of clay and fire it. The icky part is if I want to glaze it instead of having it be actual bisque. Anybody know what I should avoid places that would make it not aquarium safe?

I'm not sure any glazes would be safe but I do know that unglazed terra cotta pots make good caves and are safe in your tank long term. So is most PVC and glass. I used aquarium safe silicone and covered a small square glass candle holder in aquarium gravel to make caves that blended in with my tank. I found the glass candle holders at my local dollar store too.

I've heard that glazes that are considered dinnerware safe are safe to use in an aquarium... but I don't know if it's true, and it might be a little bit difficult to find out if a glaze is. I suppose I could paint the thing, I heard Krylon spray paint is aquarium safe so long as it cures... but that wouldn't let me do much detail
