I just recently bought stress coat+ and zyme+ both made by api along with 5-1 test strips 40 count. I was wondering what else is a good idea to keep around for your fish incase something should happen.

Personally, I prefer liquid test kits to the strips due to accuracy. But, it's always a good idea to keep some maracyn 1 & 2 on hand.

Hi, and welcome to the site.  wave

I like using liquid test kits when I need an accurate reading. I do use dip and read strips but they aren't that accurate and will only tell you when there is a problem happening.

Good things to have handy are:

An unused bucket (never been exposed to cleaning chemicals)
An empty ice chest/beer cooler (emergency fish container)
A fish net (obvious)
A battery powered air pump (power outages)
A gravel vac or python-style water change system (for water changes and cleaning)
A magnetic algae scrubber (fun to play with, too)
Spare parts (airstones, filter pads, airline tubing, fish bags, etc.)
Activated carbon (adsorbes may toxins fast)
Zeolite (absorbs ammonia fast)
Rock salt

You could use some mythelene blue, melafix and primafix on hand for emergencies. I would also get have some extra caves, tanks and plastic plants on standby if some fish needs to be moved to a separate tank.

Yes API does make Primafix and Melafix they come in small glass bottles which are blue on the outside. They are good for fin nips and any kinds of injuries on the body of the fish. Good for keeping fin nippers or territorial fishes. Mythelene blue can be used as a treatment for protozoan parasites and fungus on fish and also to prevent fungus from growing on fish eggs. I am currenly using the one by INTERPET but I think other fish medicine brand do have it as well.
