Would 2 baby commons be stunted if I placed them in 20 Gal for fall and winter? I need them to get bigger before adding them to a 500+ gal pond.

While it's not ideal I think if its just to winter them they should be fine.

They can get big VERY fast... my daughter bought a small feeder goldfish last October to eat the snails in her 29, and in a few short months, it was probably 4-5" long...  We had to wait until about April to add it to our pond.  It is now probably 7-8" long.

Be prepared to increase the water changes to keep them healthy.. check the water parameters frequently.  Even 2 small goldfish in a 20 can add a lot of waste quickly!

Its fine, just till they are large enough. They are too small to be making it on their own, the pond has been enlarged to 1500 Gal. Smiley
