Hello, and thanks for taking the time to respond.  wave

I currently have an Albino ACF named Ribbit. I got it around 6 months ago from a walmart.
He was stuck in a sad little cup with a splash of water in it. Now he is getting pretty big with a body thats a couple inches or so.
I feed him bloodworms, canadian earthworms and feeder fish. He doesnt take to pellets or reptomin sticks.  Hes a pretty viscous little frog with an appetite.
I have kept him in a 20gal long tank up until recently moving him to a new 75gal tank all to himself.

I came across a single tiny new one at a walmart in some filthy water, and took him home. As I thought it would be cool to get ribbit a buddy.
Ultimately, I would like to have them together in the 75gal tank. I know he will eat the new one right now as they are way different in size...
So im hoping that I can grow up the new one in the 20gal big enough so he wont get eaten.

My question is, have I screwed the pooch by waiting too long to get another one?
Will Ribbit sprout now that hes in a much larger tank? Therefore never giving the new little guy time to get big enough not to be eaten? Or does tank size not affect him like it does fish?

I can buy ACF'S that are even bigger than him...but the fish store wants $40 or so.
And personally I just like to see them grow from just a tiny frog.

I know this is long sorry  wave

About the filters for them..I have read that they dont like alot of current. The 75 gal tank I got came with a whisper 30 60 hang on back filter...and a filter/bio wheel type HOB that I think is an "emporer".
The bio wheel  of splashes quite a bit and the top of the water thrashes around.
My question is, will I be ok with the whisper 30 60 by itself to take away some of the "noise" or current he has to deal with? Will it be sufficient filtration?

thanks for your time

Is Ribbit an african dwarf frog, or an african clawed frog? I know you said clawed, but sometimes people are told the wrong names where they get them.. Look back and forth at the two of them, if it looks like a remote possibility that one could fit in the others mouth, you may have a problem. What I can recall about these guys though is that they have smallish mouths for frogs though. I only have experience with the dwarf frogs though, and I understand the ACF's can be MUCH bigger.

Yes he is an African clawed frog. The albino one with the little black tips on his large back feet.
They new small one is the same type as well.

Your filter should be ok and the current should not be a problem. Just position the filter on one side of the tank so the frog can go to the calmer, other side of the tank.

I have grown up with these guys.  I used to just feed them Goldfish.  After a couple of years I noticed that they look malnutritioned.  After a search about 8yrs ago I found a recipe for food for them. After a couple of months of feeding them this combo my male started to talk and they started breeding.  I would feed the little guy this combo to get his caught up in size.  Its gross but it works.  Make sure to use Chicken hearts.  Blend chicken hearts and reptile vitamins in a blender.  You then take plain gelatin and mix it all together.  Pour it into a cookie sheet with decent size side so that it will end up forming a good size cube.  Once combined throw it in the freezer.  Once frozen cut into cubes and bag however you see fit.  Feed the little guy the frozen gelatin mixture and he will be super healthy.  The portions I don't remember so don't over do it on the vitamins.  Good Luck!!
