nrich has been with us for a long time. Thank you for everything you bring to petfish, Nic!!
BASIC INFO:
Petfish Username:nrich
When did you join Petfish? I think I joined back in 2004. One of my best friends bettas had jumped the divided and nearly killed the other. I am positive that it was all the helpful advice that I got on this site that save the little guy's life. What kind of fish do you keep? I've got a 50 gal with one gold severum, danios, female bettas, a bushy noised pleco, kuhli loaches, a dojo loach, porkchop rasboras and my last bloodfin tetra. I also have a couple fantail goldfish in a 29 gal and two shabunkins and a comet in a breeder 50 gal on my front porch.
How long have you been keeping fish? Since 2004. Keeping that one poor betta inspired me and by the end of that year, I had a dozen bettas in my dorm room.
Are you planning or working on any special fish related projects? (like setting up a new tank, etc.) I'm planning on building a 100 gal pond on my patio for my goldies some time in the next few weeks. I'm sure that they would appreciate the extra room and I'd love to be able to cut down on the water changes (at least 20% every three days!)
On a non-fish related note, I'm also building an enclosure for my newest reptile addition: Mr. Skinkers, my Eastern Blue Tongued skink and I'm setting up a cage for my new Bearded Dragon, Maleficent (a.k.a Mal).
TELL US ABOUT YOURSELF: (NOTE: All of the following questions are optional. You may choose to NOT answer any or all of them.)
Whereabouts do you live? Pasadena, CA
What is your occupation? Senior Library Assistant
Do you have any other pets? Where to start! I have 4 cats: Bobby, Jesse, Lulu, and Marco 1 Dog: Margi 1 Kingsnake: Riagan 3 Leopard Geckos: Winchester, Hera, and Sabine 1 mouse: Ralph S. Mouse 2 three toed box turtles: Frik and Frak 1 redfoot tortoise: Rosie 1 blue tongued skink: Mr. Skinkers 1 bearded dragon: Maleficent 2 Anoles: Jermain and La Toya
What other hobbies or special interests do you have? Obviously, I have a lot of herps, but I also love to write. I've almost finished my first young adult science fiction novel and I've been writing short stories for many years. I also keep orchids and I love gardening.
Describe your family. (Married, single? Kids? Etc...) My Grandmother raised me since I was three years old and I still live with her today. I also became the legal guardian of my 13 year old baby sister last year. It's been tough going, but I think we are all finally settling into a routine at home. I'm trying to instill a profound love of animals in my sister and so far, she has really enjoyed helping take care of my crazy little zoo.
Do you like cheese? Yes, yes, yes!!! My favorite snack in the entire world is taking a baby Brie, topping it with dried cranberries and drizzled honey. Then wrapping the entire thing in foil and baking it at low temperature until it melts in the middle. So good with melba toast to dip!!!!
Other comments or information you?d like us to know about yourself? That's it I guess. Thanks so much for all the help you've provided over the years. I love you all!!!!

Thanks everyone!!! I really do love coming here and I've learned so much over the years from you all. Good stuff, congrats! The cheese sounds good... mmmm.... I'm going to have to try that. What temp do you bake it on and for about how long? I usually bake it at 300 degrees for 15 minutes or when the middle of the cheese is soft. The cheese is still encased in its rind, so it doesn't ooze out all over the oven. It's delicious! Congratulations Nrich. Very well deserved. Some crazy zoo you have, it would have been nice to have been able to see them. Essabee: Many of the herps are posted in the reptile section page. I haven't really gotten any pics of Mr. Skinkers (I did post a quick pic of him peaking out at me on "Post your cuties" the other day though) Mal or Rosie yet. They are still settling in and I try not to bother them much. I will be posting though in the near future.
