I am barking mad over bichirs

« on: May 01, 2009, 04:12:49 PM »

This month, I get to announce our latest Spotlight Member, MonsterFishRescue! For those of you that aren't familiar with him, check out the DIY section where he has a step-by-step posting about enlarging an 800 gallon setup even more, with questions and answers.

When did you join Petfish?

I think about 8 months ago? But I'm getting old so I could be wrong! LOL

What kind of fish do you keep?

I keep central and south american cichlids and various catfish species  Smiley

Are you planning or working on any special fish related projects? <---This a standard question, not picking on you Jonathon

Actually I just finished remodeling my fish room to be able to set up twice the amount of tanks, and I just completed my 1500 gallon aquarium! That and I'm attempting to spawn amphilophus robertsoni  Smiley  I also run Monster Fish Rescue, a non profit LLC that will soon be a non profit organization! We rescue and rehabilatate fish of all sizes, usually huge ones though! LOL

TELL US ABOUT YOURSELF:

Whereabouts do you live?

I live in Orwell Ohio with my four beautifull kids, Cassidy, Isabella, Dominic and Maxwell along with my very special and understanding wife Lora

Do you have any other pets?

Yes, I have four kids! LOL We've got a boxer/lab that was a rescue named Dexter, two rescued feeder ratts, Willy and Tater and a nasty mean old painted turtle named Franklin!

What other hobbies or special interests do you have?

I have four kids.... LOL They ARE my hobby! I do like and have owned a few hot rods and I also love trains. I collect beer bottles and have a collection that boasts over 400 different bottles! All Drank by me last week! LOL

Describe your family:

My Family is awesome, Two girls, then two boys! We love trips to the zoo where i get bombarded with 1,000,000 questions from all four. LOL We all love animals and my wife used to be an equestrian... Not sure if I spelled that right! Now she's a stay at home Mom and is an amateur photographer. We've been together since the beginning of time and feel we must be soul mates... We dated for a month then got married LOL When you know..... you know  Cheesy

Do you like cheese?

Yes, I do, all kinds. It's what keeps me fat! (that and my wife's excellent cooking!)

Other comments or information you'd like us to know about yourself?

Well, if you don't see me on the boards very much in summer it's because I'm a carpenter and work non stop from March till the end of November... Then hibernate for the winter! LOL I rather enjoy it, but would love to just rescue fish and hang up the tool belt and only grab tools every once and a while!

Yours truely, Jonathan Strazinsky (aka TheFishGuy)

Kudo's to TheFishGuy. I remember hearing you were having some problems with your rescue operation, I hope all is going well now. It's nice to know the big ones are getting a caring home.

Great. Good DIY project, that 1500, although you did get into trouble with it. Congratulations - keep it up.

Good stuff, congrats! Smiley  You do an incredible thing most people wouldn't even consider.  I loved reading and watching you build that tank.  Any chance we could get your wife and my husband together so she can teach him big fish tanks aren't bad?
