That's me, back in 1896

Hi everyone. I am doing some DNA sequencing on Oreichthys and Oreichthys-like fishes. So far, I (actually, we as there are several people involved) have sequenced the following:

Oreichthys sp. "redfin" #1 (Burma)
Oreichthys sp. "redfin #2 (Burma)
Oreichthys sp. "redtail" (Burma)
Oreichthys cosuatis (India)
Oreichthys sp. "drapefin" (India; a true Oreichthys according to the DNA. Not a Puntius as some have suggested.)
Oreichthys parvus (Thailand)

I'll be adding another India Oreichthys to the list next month

as well as yet another Burma species.

However, I am having a hard time obtaining some other species, and I am hoping that someone here can help. I am looking for specimens of:

Oreichthys sp. "western ghats" (India)
Oreichthys sp. "Dibru River" (Assam, India)
Oreichthys sp. "umangii" (Assam, India; from "Ornamental Aquarium fishes of India")
Oreichthys cf. parvus "west Thailand"
Oreichthys cf. parvus (Burma)

Also looking for any Oreichthys or Oreichthys-like fish from Laos, Cambodia, Viet Nam, and Bangladesh.

If you happen to come across these fish in your LFS (unlikely here in the USA, but it never hurts to ask), please let me know.

They're so beautiful.

There’s no replacement for places.
I’ll always love you, you’re mine.
Numb is the new high,
All memories die out
Til nothing and nowhere is golden.
