Petfish Username: Cholly

When did you join Petfish? March 4, 2008

What kind of fish do you keep?       20G- 1male betta, 3 bicolor botia(half banded loaches?)
29G- 1 Yoyo loach, 2 African Brown Knives, 1 Hillstream Loach
45G- 3 female bettas, 1 chocolate pleco, 2 black kuhli loaches

Are you planning or working on any special fish related projects?  (like setting up a new tank, etc.)  I've gathered together all the stuff I need to breed my 2 near black bettas, but haven't started conditioning yet. He's a black bodied VT with dark blue/purple fins, she's an almost entirely black CT with dark blue highlights on her body. So after 20 years of not breeding bettas, I guess I'm back at it, lol.
I'll also be swapping the lady bettas and the knife fish before the knife fish get too much bigger. And attempting to convince my wife we need more and larger tanks, lol.

TELL US ABOUT YOURSELF: I'm married(15 years), have a daughter, am a mildly disabled veteran, I work in a small, but growing electronics factory. I was a crab and lobster fisherman in the Florida Keys for 5 years, which was just about the only time in my life I didn't have an aquarium. I've done a little bit of everything that didn't require a degree, then finally went back to school courtesy of the VA and got an AAS in Network Engineering. I am a total technogeek, but I hate cell phones. Holding a microwave generator next to my head never sounded like a good idea.

Whereabouts do you live? Spokane, WA

Do you have any other pets? We have 3 dogs and a cat. Two of the dogs were abuse rescues.

What other hobbies or special interests do you have? Computers, it's actually rare for me to have one of my own sealed up, I'm always tinkering, and I'm a fair amateur woodworker.

Describe your family: Chaotic. 14 year old daughter helps with the fishies and is the official namer-of-the-fishies. Disabled MIL lives with us, makes both wife and I nuts sometimes, nobody can make you as crazy as someone you care about. Wife, caregiver for MIL, and the glue that holds us all together.

Do you like cheese? Of course. Except bleu cheese, which I'm allergic to anyway.

Other comments or information you'd like us to know about yourself? British humor kills me, I own Monty Python's 16 Ton Mega Set and the Complete Fawlty Towers. It is also quite possible that I literally own a ton of books, one of my book cases is 4' X 6' and is two-deep in sci-fi and fantasy paperbacks.

OMG, you're totally handsome!!  There are times when you make it sound as if you're some kind of three-headed monster!

However, from your first day, you've brought a lot to this forum, and I don't just mean the insanity.  Thanks for all you do, Cholly!

Good job old bean.. what what... rather. Smiley

Fawlty towers huh? The Psychiatrist episode, and Basil the Rat, are probably my favorite episodes of that show.

No rat...is hamster! Nobody does repressed rage comedy quite like John Cleese. Lori, as open minded as I like to think I am, male beauty is still an abstract concept to me.   Mollielover, Essabee, thank you both, I really like this community, I think that it's really great and am glad that you think I'm such an asset. Bichers are highly addictive. Prehistoric looking, full of attitude, what's not to love?

Congrats & well deserved. < --- stated by other previously but now stated by ...... The Sane One! Which of course makes it that much better.  Cool

So all things Python .... explains the sanity level.

So how did you get from swimming in a natural aquarium (The Keys) to being landlocked if you don't mind my asking?

I don't mind you asking, but answering on the board could cause difficulties. Not so much for me as Lori and Mollielover, being board owners.

He's in the petfish protection program. In fact, he doesn't really exist, and you don't remember even talking with him. Move along, sirs...  Cool
