I think some hardscape would bring this tank all together. The way the plants are positioned now gives you a good place to put a focal point.

Nah no need for hardscape. This is a dutch style tank. I have a few hardscape ones but those are easy to do.

I know how you feel. I just got my 29 looking the way I want it to. It still needs to fill in more with new growth in the foreground but I can be happy with the results till it grows in. My husband helps me to do mine as he seems to be really good at finding the right placement. I think you will love your tank once it starts growing. I definitely think you have a nice assortment of plants that will give a beautiful contrast of shapes, colors, and sizes. One thing I do when the plants I want in the back seem too short is to raise the level by adding a bowl or rock structure that is covered with gravel deep enough to plant in. It also works well for plants that should be midground plants. I can see lots of potential in your tank once you get them to grow again.
